Taking a breather

I wanted to post something here today so y’all wouldn’t think I’d dropped off the face of the earth or anything. I spent the end of last week and most of the weekend consumed with my son’s third birthday party. I’m still so tired that I’m not sure I can string together enough sentences to make a good blog post yet. Who knew a birthday party could be so exhausting? I think I felt less tired after hiking Mt. Rainier or defending my master’s thesis. Please give me another day to recover from the party, if you would be so kind.

See, I’m not making it up. That’s me, trying valiantly to light three birthday candles without setting fire to myself (er, which I was only partially successful at…my poor left thumb).

William's birthday shindig

In the meantime, anyone got any good book recommendations for me? I need something new to read for fun, and I’m looking for suggestions.
